I am shocked. Pleasantly so. After all the years I spent as a member of the CHFB, receiving chiding "pms" from administrator David Colton and suspecting that he promoted and even encouraged a caste system on the board, the truth finally comes out.
Yes, indeed, the "big names" are cut slack at the CHFB by administrators. According to Colton, this slack must be given because the CHFB wouldn't exist without these professionals and their much-needed contributions. These are the same professionals who often turn on one another like titans looking for a clash.
The Don Glut/Tom Weaver dust-up forced Colton's hand. In a long-winded "explanation," he defended this position and in essence relegated the regular CHFB members to the faceless nameless rabble. It brought a sharp rebuke from Jacque Lecotier, who gave Taraco "what for" and spoke volumes for the rest of us...including those who aren't big names and were unceremoniously shown the door for offenses that would've been ignored if committed by Taraco's apparently-beloved "professionals."
So, friends, whatever you do--DON'T rattle the cages of CHFB members like Tom Weaver or Bill Warren two of the biggies that come to my mind unless you, yourself, are a biggie. Otherwise, you'll definitely be on the losing end. And why? Because your membership at the CHFB isn't worth a plugged nickel and your contributions/opinions/experiences and life experiences as monster kids don't mean squat. Unless you've written a book. Or make cheesy "B" films. Or publish a magazine.
